Membership Agreement
Mission : The Equity and Inclusion Campaign is a nonpartisan policy advocacy and public messaging campaign advocating for fulfillment of the federal commitment to confront persistent poverty and inequity during the Gulf Coast recovery and rebuilding process.
Vision : The vision for the Equity and Inclusion Campaign is to establish sustainable Gulf Coast communities characterized by economic, social and environmental fairness. The Campaign is working to effect systemic change so that all people are included, valued and empowered.
Core Values:
Equity: The Campaign works to ensure that America's leaders fulfill their pledge to provide adequate benefits and opportunities to improve the lives of those with disproportionate needs due to injustice, risk, and harm. Groups disenfranchised must have access to a sufficient share of resources and opportunities to close the gaps.
Inclusion: The Campaign supports policies that enable everyone (especially those most marginalized before the storms and those still displaced) to shape the public decisions that affect their lives and communities, to influence redevelopment policies, and retain control over the decisions that will impact their lives and recovery.
Coalition Benefits:
The E&I Campaign's members are eligible for following benefits:
- Information on Campaign related matters, events and regional issues through email, website, convenings and membership meetings;
- Ability to inform E&I Campaign's decisions through input to the Board of Directors, annual meeting, quarterly convenings, and working group meetings;
- Organization profiles on the E&I Campaign website;
- Access to E&I Campaign's Member's Only website;
- Staff assistance for E&I Campaign working group initiatives;
- Opportunities for training, in such areas as effective advocacy;
- Opportunities to participate in E&I Campaign advocacy events in the Gulf Coast region and in Washington, DC;
- Scholarships for travel to participate in E&I Campaign events;
- Access to a broad network of regional advocates working in different communities, on different issues, or from different walks of life.
Membership Requirements:
The E&I Campaign expects that its members will:
- Agree with the E&I Campaign's mission, vision, and values;
- Actively participate in the E&I Campaign and be comfortable when the E&I Campaign challenges government decisions and oppressive social and economic structures;
- Promote the mission of the E&I Campaign and educate the public about its purpose, policy agenda and how to become involved;
- Actively contribute to the working groups of E&I Campaign according to their expertise

Attend the Annual Meeting and at least 2 of the 3 quarterly regional convenings per year;
- Stay informed on coalition matters through email and the E&I Campaign website;
- Subscribe to issue-oriented updates, discussions, and meetings of their choice;
- Use the resources offered by the E&I Campaign prudently.
Grievance Procedure:
Members are asked to respect and abide by the following procedures:
- .Any grievances, concerns or operational recommendations should be presented to the National Director. If the National Director does not provide a satisfactory response within two weeks, the Campaign Member should address the President of the Board of Directors in writing.
- Members of the E&I Campaign who are perceivably undermining the work or reputation of the campaign will be engaged in discussion by the Board's Executive Committee. If the issue is not resolved within 3 months, Members may be asked to withdraw their membership by the Board of Directors.
- Members who do not uphold the agreements stated in this Agreement will be addressed by the E&I Board of Directors.
